About the Role We have an exciting opportunity for a Registrar or Senior House Officer with an interest or prior experience in Anatomical Pathology (Histology and Cytology) to join our Pathology service at Waikato Hospital. The Pathology service provides an extensive range of diagnostic testing across five laboratory sites in the Waikato region and processes referred specialist testing for the wider region.
The Anatomical Pathology department is supported by a modern, well-equipped laboratory with access to a wide range of diagnostic stains and specialist techniques. The laboratory processes over 20,000 cases per year, participates widely in multidisciplinary team meetings and receives expert review cases from across New Zealand.

About the Team/Service You will be working with a team of 11 Anatomical Pathologists with a wide variety of sub-speciality interests, as well as an enthusiastic and skilled scientific workforce. The department is accredited for training and works in collaboration with clinicians from across the hospital and region to deliver anatomical pathology services in a tertiary hospital setting.

About you Registered Medical Officer, PGY3 and aboveStrong interest in pathologyCompleted or eligible to sit the Basic Pathological Sciences (BPS) ExaminationApplicants must be registered, or eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New ZealandNo prior experience is required but previous experience in Histology/Cytology will be an advantageYou will need to be a NZ or Australian citizen or resident, or have an appropriate visa to be eligible to live and work in NZ.
