We are a RANZCOG training department, with learning opportunities in many specialist Gynaecology areas including Gynae-oncology, minimal access surgery, Urogynaecology and Colposcopy, plus High Risk Obstetrics, including a dedicated Pre-term Birth Clinic.
A commitment to patient centred care and multi-disciplinary teamwork is essential. Applicants must be both flexible in their approach and be willing to contribute positively to the service.Recent experience in both acute gynaecology and obstetrics is essential as well as experience in antenatal care both inpatient and outpatient.
We provide a collaborative and supportive learning environment which encourages excellence and innovation. The department has strong teaching and training culture with protected weekly registrar teaching and multidisciplinary CTG education meetings.
There are also monthly perinatal morbidity & mortality meetings, high risk obstetric, colposcopy, general gynaecology and gynae-oncology multidisciplinary meetings for ongoing professional development.Individually tailored schedules with special interest focus and specific training needs may be further negotiated with successful applicants.
You are required to contribute to the Registrar after hour's roster, however we will ensure your training needs are met.Click to view the position description Obstetrics & Gynaecology About the Team/ServiceTe Whatu Ora Waikato District is one of New Zealands largest tertiary and secondary healthcare providers.
We provide tertiary services to a region of 900,000 and secondary services to a local district of 375,000. We have approximately 5,500 deliveries per year in the district and 3,500 of these are at Waikato Hospital. Facilities include a seven bed delivery suite, two high dependency beds, a womens acute assessment unit, antenatal, postnatal and gynaecological inpatient wards, a dedicated outpatients service and modern theatres.
The O&G team consists of 15 consultants, 17 registrars & 9 senior house officers. Hamilton is New Zealands fourth largest city and is also one of the fastest growing. It is situated on the banks of the Waikato River. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is close enough to beaches, mountains and forests for a range of outdoor activities.
