Make a difference in your community now!Work with people with complex needs & challenging behaviourPermanent fulltime role in Templeton on the outskirts of ChristchurchMō te tūnga | About the roleIn Canterbury, there are residential facilities for people who have a history of offending behaviour and are subject to sentences or orders (including extended supervision orders, intensive monitoring orders or public protection orders).
These facilities are operated by Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections) and designed to assist individuals to develop important life skills within a supportive and supervised environment in order to successfully reintegrate back into the community.We are looking for support workers to join our team to supervise, motivate and positively influence the reintegrative journey for those in our care.Mōu | About you We operate a cyclic shift roster which includes night
shifts, weekends and public holidays.
A typical shift is 12 hours long and will see you:Working cooperatively with residents to help them achieve their reintegrative goalsSupporting residents, both within the residences and on community outings, to promote public safety through the safe management and supervision of each individual residentSupporting and participating in residents' rehabilitative and reintegrative activitiesModelling pro-social behaviourNgā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experienceYou will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:A full New Zealand Drivers Licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicleExperience working with people from all walks of life, particularly with complex needsGood time management and organisational skillsTo be culturally respectful and non-judgementalAn ability to maintain clear and professional boundaries at all timesAn ability to make decisions in a safe and logical manner, providing practical solutions to day to day issuesIf you pride yourself on your ability to provide a high standard of care, you have strong written communication skills, solid experience managing individuals with challenging and complex needs and you want to make a positive difference to community safety, then we want to hear from you!Ngā painga | The benefitsThe starting salary for this role is $64,138 per annum at Level 1 and the maximum level is $71,444 per annum.Annual clothing allowance of $400Fitness Passport offering discounted gym membershipEye exam & eyewear reimbursement for eligible staff (conditions apply)Access to EAP & Staff Support NetworksSubsidised medical insuranceMō mātou | About us Join Ara Poutama Aotearoa
