The Role
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our growing team. This dual role will see you involved in both pre-construction estimating and post-contract financial management, providing cost certainty, risk management, and commercial leadership across a diverse range of projects.
You will work closely with our Project Managers, Site Managers, and Directors to ensure projects are accurately costed, well-managed commercially, and successfully delivered on time and on budget.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates, tenders, and budgets for a wide range of construction projects
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accuracy in pricing
- Manage subcontractor procurement, evaluation, and negotiations
- Provide ongoing cost control, progress claims, and variations management throughout the project lifecycle
- Prepare and review cashflow forecasts and financial reporting
- Monitor risks, track changes, and support the commercial success of projects
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating and QS systems within PGC.
- Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (or significant relevant experience)
- 3+ years’ experience in NZ quantity surveying and/or estimating (commercial, industrial, or residential)
- Strong knowledge of NZS:3910 and other standard construction contracts
- Skilled in MS Office, estimating software, and digital measurement tools
- Knowledge of CostX Estimation Software, Workbench Project Management Software, and Procore would be an advantage
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and numerical accuracy
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proactive, organised, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to build strong working relationships with project stakeholders.
