About the RoleYou will be responsible forProcessing patient information and records in HNZ Lakes programs ensuring timely and accurate record keepingOrdering supply and equipment Communicating between departments and acting as contact person for the ward/unitManaging phone calls into ward/unitSafeguarding confidentiality (due to the nature of the role, a strong emphasis is placed this as a pre-requisite for everyone)Handling administrative tasks on behalf of the multi-disciplinary clinical staff and managers in a polite and efficient mannerAssisting both patients and families seeking further help/information and to be aware of the needs of the clients, dealing in an appropriate manner with clients who can be hostile, abusive or aggressive.

About the Team/Service/ LocationThe Mental Health Inpatient Unit provides care for individuals (adults) with complex mental health needs requiring inpatient care. The Inpatient Unit will be moving into a new facility in the latter part of the year with your role embedded into providing direct support to the inpatient unit with your team.The role of the Ward Clerk is crucial in the effective running of the ward.
The successful applicant will be required to have oversight of the ward's stores and supplies ensuring that they are adequately replenished through the internal procurement system. Effective communication is essential in order to liaise with varied professions and services to organise and book meetings and appointments.
An empathetic approach is required as although the post is administrative, successful applicants will engage with service users and relatives in their day to day role.
