Maintenance Fitter - Day and Night Shifts Available

Location: Christchurch, Canterbury
Pay Rate: $35-$40 per hour (based on experience)

Hours: 45-55 per week

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivatedMaintenance Fitterto join the engineering team at a large-scale meat processing facility in the Canterbury region. This full-time role offers consistent hours and the opportunity to be part of a well-established New Zealand-owned operation.

Working across either theday or night shift, you will play a key role in maintaining plant equipment to minimise downtime and support overall production efficiency. You'll need to be a team player with a proactive, can-do attitude and a strong commitment to health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on plant equipment
  • Minimise downtime through efficient fault finding and repair
  • Support production with timely maintenance solutions
  • Maintain high standards of workplace health and safety
  • Work collaboratively within the trades team

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant trade qualification in engineering or maintenance, or 3+ years of proven experience in a similar role
  • Welding experience (TIG, MIG, MMAW)
  • Sound knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Experience working with automated plant and machinery
  • Previous experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Positive and proactive approach to daily responsibilities
