We are seeking a reliable and proactive Handyman/Caretaker to oversee and maintain the farm workers' accommodation and surrounding facilities. The farm operates 4 farms with over 20 staff; and has a number of homes and buildings that need upkeeping and maintenance.

This full time role involves general repairs and maintenance, lawn care, and coordination with contractors for specialised work. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, practical handyman skills, and a keen eye for keeping the farm's living and working spaces in top condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accommodation Management: Ensure staff housing is clean, safe, and well-maintained. Address maintenance issues promptly.
  • Repairs & Maintenance: Perform general repairs including basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
  • Contractor Coordination: Engage and supervise external contractors for specialised work (e.g., electricians, plumbers, builders).
  • Groundskeeping: Maintain lawns, gardens, and outdoor areas.
  • Equipment & Supplies: Manage tools, materials, and supplies needed for repairs and upkeep.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in all maintenance tasks.
  • General Support: Assist with other farm maintenance duties as required.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • At least 6 months’ previous experience in property maintenance, caretaking, or handyperson work.
  • Basic handyman skills, particularly in carpentry, plumbing, and general maintenance.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues independently.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and contractors.
  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • Ideally holds a current Health and Safety Compliance Certificate (or willing to obtain one).
  • Ideally is competent in operating small diggers/ for ground maintenance around housing sites (any training certificate would be good)
Terms of role:
  • $60,000-$70,000 total package value, less accommodation of $300 p/week as the role will live on farm
  • Minimum of 30 hours and a maximum of 45 hours per week, with an average of 40 hours
  • 5 on 2 off roster, 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday
