Heavy Structural Steel Fabricator x 2 Location: Timaru or Christchurch, New ZealandHourly Rate: $35+ per hour + Overtime + Saturdays
Project Start: March 2025. These are full-time roles with a min. of 40 hour per week.
Our Clienthas a state-of-the-art workshops and a proven track record, they handle projects of any magnitude across the country. From steel fabrication, shop drawings, and surveying to transport and site erection, they deliver full-service excellence.
The Role:
We’re seekingHeavy Structural Steel Fabricatorsto join our clients team for an upcoming large-scale projects. We are looking for candidates that are comfortable working on and with500mm–700mm beams,plating 50mm–60mm, and handling beams weighing between10–15 tonnes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricating, welding, and assembling structural steel as per shop drawings and procedures.
- Interpreting and understanding structural steel drawings and weld symbols.
- Squaring up and welding various geometries of components.
- Using tools and equipment essential for heavy fabrication.
- Developing templates and work aids to align parts.
- Operating overhead gantry cranes to handle heavy components.
- Collaborating with welders and assisting in fit-ups where required.
What We’re Looking For:
To be considered for this role, you MUST have:
- 10–15 years of experience in the structural steel industry, with expertise in heavy fabrication.
- A solid understanding of structural steel drawings and welding symbols.
- Proficiency in English (written, verbal, and reading).
- The ability Fit up and working with welders where required
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
- Competence in using overhead gantry cranes.
- A proactive approach, including the willingness to work overtime, weekends, and night shifts (as required).
