FASD-CAN is a Aotearoa New Zealand based, non-profit incorporated society made up of parents, caregivers, extended whanau and professionals who unite to help improve the lives of those living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. It is the network’s aim to share their knowledge, strength, and collective wisdom with parents/whanau/caregivers and Kaimahi so that those living with FASD | Te Iho Tatai-a- Rongo can grow and achieve.

FASD-CAN is expanding its Navigator team to tautoko/support families whanau, and caregivers to better cope, care, and understand the brain differences of tamariki/children and rangitahi/young people impacted by prenatal exposure to alcohol.

FASD-CAN is seeking two passionate and knowledgeable Navigators to join our team, supporting whanau, caregivers, and communities impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD | Te Iho Tatai-a- Rongo). This role is grounded in the principles of whanaungatanga (connections), manaakitanga (hospitality, support & respect), and kotahitanga (unity, togetherness) recognising the importance of trusted relationships, collective strength, and culturally affirming support.

As a Navigator, you will walk alongside whanau, families and caregivers, offering guidance, education, and practical strategies that reflects clinical understanding and acknowledes the unique whakapapa, wairua, and mana of every child and young personi.

You will contribute to an organisation that honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi, upholds equity for Maori, and affirms neurodiversity through inclusive, strengths-based approaches.

This is a relationship-based role where your ability to connect, empower, and advocate will help whanau and families navigate the complexities of FASD with confidence and aroha.

About You

This role would suit a FASD informed practitioner with experience working in a similar role in Community Development, Whanau Ora, or within the Disability Sector looking to make a difference in supporting hapori/communities.

You will join our team of training facilitators, so an advantage would be if you were familiar with small group facilitation .

You will be a motivated self-starter, able to use initiative to organise, prioritise and undertake the role tasks as specified, be accountable, and able to meet the position objectives.
