Cafe Chef

We are currently seeking individuals for the roles of Café Chef to join our beautiful café located in central Rotorua. We are an independent eatery with a passion for good food, good coffee and authentic service for breakfast, brunch and lunch (soon shall be open for Dinner service as well).

Employment Type: Full-Time

Working Hours:- 30 hours per week (Weekend Availability is a must for this role).

• Plan and organise food preparation and cooking activities.
• Design menus, manage kitchen budget, including food cost, labor cost, and equipment maintenance.
• Innovate seasonal or modern fusion dishes that appeal to diverse palates while preserving cultural authenticity.
• Train and guide kitchen staff and junior chef.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through food quality and presentation.
• Ensure kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards meet or exceed local health regulations.
• Implement proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
• Conduct regular training and inspections to maintain a safe working environment.

Job requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience or NZQA Level 4 qualification or higher is preferred. Either or would be ok.
• Understanding of food preparation to perfection and presented appealingly.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Good understanding of culinary trends and kitchen operations.
