  • time (3 positions available)Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleAs a Health Promotion Advisor | Kaitohu Whakatairanga Hauora, you will work using a community partnerships approach to design, develop, enable and evaluate health promotion initiatives and programmes, and contribute to strategies and policies, that address the determinants of health and wellbeing that are aligned with community and government priorities.
In this role, you will also contribute to the knowledge, expertise and ideas that support local and regional programmes of work towards Pae Ora.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand
  • Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.This role is based within the Community and Whānau Wellbeing team which aims to enhance the health and wellbeing of the whole community through creating supportive environments to make healthy choices more available to whānau.

You'll be dedicated to seeing communities thrive and will partner with them to deliver initiatives that realise Pae Ora.About youYou are someone with excellent relationship management, influencing and facilitation skills.
You can work in an evidence-based way, integrating health promotion frameworks, health data and community insights to inform priorities and programme development.
You have excellent communication skills and be able to adapt information and complex ideas to a wide range of audiences.

With a focus on achieving equity, you will work closely with local government, iwi and hapū, and priority communities to bring about positive change on a wide range of issues including immunisation, screening, smokefree/ vape free, food environments, physical activity, alcohol and mental wellbeing.

You have a willingness to build constructive and effective relationships with stakeholders, understanding their needs and environment.
Previous experience in health promotion, community development or a related role Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively alongside communities and wider stakeholders Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in actionDemonstrated ability to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate programmes and projects Understanding of Public Health approaches including settings-based approaches, community-led development, systems thinking, co-design and collective impactWilling to travel across the local district and regionClean NZ Driver's LicenseDesired
  • A tertiary qualification in public health, health promotion, social science, education, Māori studies, community development or a related field or equivalent experienceWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
