We aspire to provide high qualityinpatient care to patients with acute mental health needs and/or complex age-relatedhealth conditions. We work in partnership with our patients, their families,the clinical team and community carers and supports to achieve the bestpossible health outcomes.Casualstaff need to be available for all shifts (morning, afternoons and nights) andfor weekends and school holidays. Casual positions offer flexible working hoursand opportunities to apply for internal positions when they become available. About theTeam/Service/ LocationOlder Person's Mental Health isgrowing and developing service providing physical and mental healthprofessional development opportunities for the right applicant.
You will be joining a great teamthat values teamwork and is committed to supporting the best possible healthoutcomes for our elderly patients. You will work alongside ourmultidisciplinary team consisting of specialist nurses, health care assistants,occupational therapist, physio, social worker, psychiatrist and psychologist.
About youYou will have current NCNZregistration and practising certificate, with no conditions that exclude MentalHealth Scope of Practice, and a minimum of one year's post-registration nursingexperience is desirable.You will have knowledge of:Physical and mental disorders commonly experienced in older personsContemporary treatment approaches including person-centred and trauma informed care, sensory modulation, and non-pharmacological interventions Therapeutic use of psychiatric medicationsHolistic mental health and risk assessment and care planningMental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act, 1992PPPR Act - Welfare Guardianship Te Tiriti o Waitangi Your skills will include:Well-developed interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills including de-escalationAbility to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teamAbility to work effectively with patients who have challenging behaviours Working atHealth New ZealandHealth NewZealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for thepeople of New Zealand.
