Gardener - Permanent Part-time

Are you keen to use your gardening skills & knowledge to create beautiful gardens? Available to work two days each week (Wednesday and one other)? Want a competitive wage? Keen to avoid nasty chemicals?

If so, we'd love to talk to you about working with Blue Duck Gardeners (blueduckgardeners.co.nz) on a permanent part-time basis. 15 hours per week. $30 per hour. Gardening in residential gardens across the Hutt Valley. Work includes a mix of team days and independent work, maintaining gardens to a high standard.

What we're looking for:

• Previous gardening experience. That means at least three years gardening experience.
• We're organic gardeners - we aim to beautify gardens, not poison them (or you!) If you don't know much about organic horticulture that's OK but you must be keen to learn.
• Excellent knowledge of plant health and soil care.
• Ideally you'll have a horticultural qualification.
• Be able to trim hedges and shrubs to a high standard.
• Physically fit and healthy with no musculoskeletal issues.
• Be reliable, punctual, and well-presented (we'll provide a uniform).
• Be willing and able to work unsupervised one day per week and with another experienced gardener one other day.

Your duties:

• General garden maintenance (weeding, pruning, planting, tidy-ups, mulching, maintaining plant health and dealing with pests and diseases, fertilising and foliar feeding).
• Hedge and shrub trimming to a high standard.
• Working efficiently both with the owner and independently.
• Maintaining clean, safe work practices.
• Providing friendly, professional service to clients.
• You won't be mowing lawns. We're gardeners, not lawn mowers.

• Drug & alcohol-free workplace. You may be required to take pre-employment drug and alcohol, and health testing.
• A full, clean drivers license.
