About the role
Japanese Vehicle Specialists Ltd, trading as North City Diesel, is seeking a skilled Automotive Electrician to diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic systems in a wide range of motor vehicles. The role involves advanced diagnostic work, electrical system repairs, and installation of electronic components to ensure vehicles operate safely and efficiently.

What you’ll be doing- Diagnose electrical faults in motor vehicles using specialised diagnostic equipment and scan tools
- Repair and replace faulty wiring, electrical circuits, and electronic systems
- Service alternators, starter motors, batteries, lighting, and ignition systems
- Work on ECUs, sensors, and onboard electronics
- Install and repair alarms, immobilisers, audio systems, and accessories
- Ensure all work meets manufacturer standards and vehicles operate safely
- NZ Certificate in Automotive Electrical Engineering (Level 4) or equivalent, or at least 3 years’ relevant work experience
- Strong understanding of electrical and electronic vehicle systems
- Confident using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Good problem-solving ability with tidy, methodical work habits
