We’re looking for hands-on, technically savvy Dental Technicians at various levels to join our national team, based in Middlemore Hospital working 40 hours a week Monday to Friday.This isn’t your average toolbox job, it's your chance to contribute to shaping oral healthcare across hospitals, mobile dental vans, schools, and community hubs.
You will be the trusted expert ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of essential dental tech from digital X-rays to suction pumps and sterilisers.The Role Focus:Commission, calibrate, and verify dental/medical equipmentDiagnose and repair systems with a focus on patient safetyTroubleshoot faults and lead maintenance/risk programmesEnsure compliance with NZ health and safety standardsTrain clinical staff on safe and effective equipment useIntegrate tech into clinical workflowsAbout YouRelevant tertiary qualification (NZQA Level 7) in Clinical, Biomedical, or Electrical EngineeringEWRB registration (endorsed for Medical Cardiac Protected Areas), or a plan to achieve it within 12–24 monthsIonising Radiation Use LicenceTechnical expertise, admin skills, and knowledge of healthcare practicesStrong problem-solving ability and calm, collaborative styleCommitment to patient safety, compliance, and innovationFull NZ Driver’s Licence + NZ work eligibilitySolutions-focused mindset, strong English communication, attention to detail, and ability to engage stakeholdersBonus: Experience with dental/oral health equipmentYou will be part of a system-wide transformation focused on equity, innovation, and community care.
