Hotel Manager / Front Office & Operations Supervisor

Location: Franz Josef Glacier, West Coast
Salary: NZD 50,000 per annum

Employment type: Full-time, permanent

Franz Josef Oasis is a boutique hotel located in the heart of the West Coast tourism region. We are seeking a reliable, hands-on hospitality professional to join our team and support the daily operation of the hotel. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied position combining front office, guest service, housekeeping, and light food service duties in a small, close-knit team.

Key Responsibilities: Front Office & Guest Services

  • Answer incoming phone calls and handle accommodation enquiries
  • Manage reservations via PMS and OTA platforms (e.g. Booking.com, Expedia)
  • Respond to guest emails and messages promptly and professionally
  • Check guests in and out and handle payments
  • Provide local tourism information and ensure an excellent guest experience
  • Handle guest feedback and basic complaints in a professional manner
Daily Operations
  • Support the smooth daily operation of the hotel
  • Coordinate room availability with housekeeping schedules
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service
  • Assist with operational tasks as required
Breakfast & Light Food Service
  • Assist with preparation and service of daily breakfast
  • Maintain food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene standards
  • Clean breakfast and kitchen areas after service
Housekeeping & Support Duties
  • Clean guest rooms and common areas when required
  • Change linens, replenish amenities, and prepare rooms to hotel standards
  • Support housekeeping during busy periods
  • Report maintenance issues when identified
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Previous experience in hospitality, accommodation, or tourism
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Experience with front desk operations
  • Housekeeping experience and willingness to perform physical tasks
  • Ability to work independently and multitask
  • Flexible availability including mornings, afternoons, weekends, and public holidays
