Production Supervisor
Saltwater Seafoods Limited are seeking an experienced Factory Production Supervisor to lead our processing team at our Central Hastings facility. This is a full-time role offering a minimum of 40 hours per week at a hourly rate of $28 - $32 per hour.
Our factory operates Monday to Saturday, 5am to 5pm, with occasional work outside these hours due to fresh fish landings and seasonal demand.
About the role:?This is a hands-on supervisor role responsible for overseeing day-to-day production in our seafood processing facility. You will supervise a team of processors while remaining actively involved in processing operations as required.
Key responsibilities include:- Supervising and coordinating daily processing activities
- Leading fish processing operations including filleting and gutting of inshore species such as Gurnard, Tarakihi, Snapper, Trevally, Moki, John Dory, Kingfish and others
- Ensuring production targets, quality standards and specifications are consistently met
- Monitoring and enforcing Health & Safety, food safety and hygiene standards
- Training and supporting factory staff
- Managing workflow and tidy-up/clean-down procedures
- Assisting with packing, bin washing and general factory duties when required
- Reporting issues relating to quality, equipment, staffing or safety to management
- Have significant experience in fish or food processing (3 years or more), with prior supervisory or team-leading experience preferred
- Be confident and highly skilled with knives and processing techniques
- Have strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a team
- Be physically fit and comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
- Be detail-focused with a strong commitment to product quality and yield
- Be Health & Safety conscious and able to enforce compliance
- Be reliable, organised and able to lead by example
- Have reliable transport and a strong attendance record
- Be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, as well as random testing throughout employment
