As the sole transmission network asset owner, we keep the energy flowing - transporting high voltage electricity from where it is generated to cities, towns, and some major industrial users.As the System Operator, Transpower operates the electricity market and power system 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.About the teamThe Security Operations team is responsible for ensuring that Transpower is safe from cyber security risks by providing around the clock monitoring to detect, investigate and respond to cyberthreats.
The Security Operations team acts as the central point of collaboration in coordinated efforts to monitor, assess, and defend against cyberattacks.About the opportunityAs our ICT Security Analyst, you'll be part of the Security Operations Centre team within Security Services.Together, you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving Transpower's cybersecurity, ensuring it meets the maturity levels set by our policies and industry best practices.You will participate in a range of Security Operations activities including: Actively monitoring corporate and critical systems to ensure they remain protected from cybersecurity attacks 24/7 Security Incident Response and escalation (rotation) Supporting security incident handling and response initiatives Taking the lead supporting key security processes, including security Incident Management, by providing event and incident analysis, triage, and response Ensuring security controls are both effective and continuously improvedICT Security is critically important at Transpower.
You will be part of a specialist team that delivers essential services, supports key security infrastructure, and works with service providers and partners to ensure compliance. You will also help develop and apply processes that strengthen our overall security compliance.You will also facilitate Cybersecurity education and awareness within Transpower and collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders.What you'll bringTo excel in this role, you will possess strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to interpret complex data.
With experience in cybersecurity, proficiency in relevant tools and technologies, we are seeking excellent communication skills alongside a proactive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, as well as confidence with stakeholder management and reporting, with the ability to provide reporting and senior level presentations.To be considered, your CV and cover letter to will clearly demonstrate: Intermediate experience (3-5 years) in information/cyber security, preferably in operational and/or incident management roles within large and complex matrix working environment A wide background of both technical and governance areas covering a broad range of security technologies (e.g. firewalls, networking, SIEM, identity and access and applications and infrastructure) Experience working on cybersecurity event response and incident management.
Knowledge and experience applying common security standards, preferably CIS Controls, ISO27000, NERC CIP, NIST Some level of exposure and understanding of governance, risk management and compliance Governance, risk management and compliance experience Understanding of internal and external audit programmes and management to assurance frameworks Technical certification supporting core cybersecurity processes, ideally in incident management and response (e.g. SANS, SEI, ISACA) Whilst not essential the following is desirable and will be viewed favourably Knowledge or experience supporting an Operational Technology or Process Control environment Security Industry participation, ISIG or other Knowledge of the SOC processes, applications and toolsWhy work for Transpower?Aotearoa is powered by the people who work here.
