Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant – Okato Veterinary Clinic

Okato Vet Clinic is a recently refurbished practice with a team of 5 full-time equivalent vets. We primarily serve the dairy industry of Coastal Taranaki, with a steadily growing companion animal caseload. Our modern clinic is well-equipped to provide high-quality care for both farm and small animals.

We are seeking a motivated Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. This is a varied role that combines customer service with animal care, helping ensure that both our clients and their animals receive the best experience possible.

• Greeting clients and providing excellent front-of-house service, including answering phones, scheduling appointments and managing enquiries
• Veterinary Nursing and/or Large Animal Technician duties tailored to the experience and interests of the successful applicant.
• Stock management, ordering and assisting clients with product needs
• Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming clinic environment

• A friendly personality with excellent customer service skills
• A strong team player who enjoys contributing to a positive workplace
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• A caring, empathetic approach to both clients and animals
• Ability to adapt and remain calm in a busy, changing environment
• Passion for animal health and wellbeing
• Honest, ethical and reliable
• Good computer skills
• Previous veterinary clinic or animal care experience is highly desirable
• Veterinary Nursing/Technician training or qualification would be an advantage

Local or dairy industry knowledge would also be a bonus.

Hours: Our preference is for 30–40 hours per week, starting at 8:00am, Monday to Friday.
