We are seeking a skilled Head Skipper & Facilities Manager to take ownership of vessel operations, oversee marine and accommodation facilities maintenance, and ensure project and crew coordination is executed to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Skipper and manage a commercial charter vessel in accordance with maritime regulations
  • Maintain operational readiness of vessel and equipment, ensuring all compliance standards are met
  • Supervise and coordinate seasonal crew and day-to-day charter operations
  • Liaise with clients to deliver bespoke, high-quality onboard experiences
  • Manage safety protocols including drills, briefings, and incident response
  • Oversee facilities and infrastructure related to vessel operations
  • Lead small-scale marine or shore-side projects and maintenance initiatives
  • Maintain accurate operational records, reports, and compliance logs
  • Coordinate scheduling, provisioning, inventory, and service bookings
  • Represent the company with external stakeholders including regulatory bodies and contractors

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
  • New Zealand Certificate in Maritime Crewing (Level 2) or equivalent recognised maritime qualification
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • STCW Basic Safety Training
  • ENG1 Seafarer Medical Certificate
  • Full New Zealand Driver’s Licence
  • A minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in:
o Charter vessel operations or marine tourism
o Facilities management or maintenance
o Project coordination or operational logistics
  • Strong leadership, communication, and safety management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with a calm and solutions-focused approach
