About the Role

As a Project Manager in our City Delivery Team, you'll play a pivotal role in leading complex, high-impact infrastructure projects that support the transformation of Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai - Lower Hutt. You'll work across multiple disciplines and with a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure delivery aligns with council goals, community needs, and our shared environmental values. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, risk management, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinating with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and partners to ensure aligned, timely, and quality project delivery.
  • Monitoring project progress, managing risks, and implementing contingency plans to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards, codes, and health & safety protocols. Preparing reports and presenting project updates to internal governance groups, councillors, and external partners.
  • Supporting a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation cross council teams and delivery partners.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in project management with experience in large infrastructure projects, large-scale housing, regeneration projects, or other major government capital projects. You will also have:

  • Well-developed relationship management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  • A bachelor's degree in project management, construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage project plans within budget and timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical conversations across design, planning, construction, and maintenance.
  • Confidence in presenting to senior governance groups, councils, and project boards.
