Support Worker - Christchurch

Henderson Home Community Homes provides residential care for intellectual, physical or sensory disability, dual diagnosis and also holds individual mental health contracts, located in Hoon Hay, Christchurch.

You will be part of a team who will provide a safe environment where people can develop confidence and new skills, build friendships with peers and interact with others in the community.

• Morning shift from 0630-1500
• Afternoon shift from 1500-2230

This role will be from Tuesday - Saturday including public holidays.

Our Expectation of a Support Worker:

• monitoring and reporting on the progress of the clients and their needs
• reporting to RN/Managers any health concerns of the clients and recording accurately and reporting

• showering and toileting (if required)
• accompanying clients on outings, daily activities and doctor's appointments
• transporting clients to day placements

• Level 0-4 New Zealand Health & Wellbeing or equivalent studies with the intention of furthering your skills.
• Experience dealing with complex and challenging behaviors in people with intellectual and physical disabilities

• Able to work weekdays, weekends, public holidays

• Be able to relate to people of all ages and ethnicities with the ability to use alternative communication

• Open minded and willingness to listen.
• Want to make a difference everyday.
• Good sense of humor.
• Empathy, respect and cultural awareness is the most important part of this role.
• Must have full driver's license.

• Support workers will be paid based on their qualification as per the Support Workers (Pay Equity) Settlement

• First Aid Training will be provided.
• Careerforce up to Level 4 in Health and Wellbeing is actively being encouraged.
• In house monthly training provided and allowance paid to attend.
