Employer: Owner Driver within the Mainfreight NetworkLocation: Christchurch, Canterbury (linehaul role – work may also be required across various New Zealand regions)
Employment Type: Full-time, Temporary (3-month initial contract)
Contract Duration: 3 months, with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time permanent contract
Position Available: 1
Hours of Work: 50 to 60 hours per week, based on rostered shifts
Pay: Pay will depend on the individual’s experience

About the Role
An owner driver operating within the Mainfreight network is seeking an experienced Floating Truck Driver for an initial 3-month temporary contract. Based on performance and operational needs, there is potential for the role to become a full-time permanent position.This position supports linehaul operations across various regions of New Zealand. Shift patterns vary, with different shifts assigned each week.

Key Tasks- Drive heavy trucks to transport freight across metro and regional routes
- Safely load, secure, and unload freight
- Ensure goods are delivered on schedule and in good condition
- Conduct routine vehicle checks and report maintenance issues
- Maintain accurate logbooks and compliance documentation
- Comply with health & safety requirements and road transport legislation
- Provide professional and courteous customer service
Skills and Experience Required
- Full, clean New Zealand Class 5 Driver Licence (mandatory)
- Minimum two years of proven heavy truck driving experience (ideally linehaul)
- Ability and willingness to obtain additional New Zealand transport endorsements as required
- Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including different shift patterns each week
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance
- Professional, reliable, and customer-focused
- Clean criminal record
- Pre-employment drug test may be required
