Assistant Restaurant Manager

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours of Work: Minimum 30 hours, up to 45 hours per week
Days Required: 5–6 days per week as rostered, including weekends and public holidays
Hourly Rate: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour
Prepare and manage staff rosters
Support wage cost control and daily operational reporting
Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety and licensing regulations
Act as Duty Manager when required
Handle customer service issues and maintain high service standards
Assist with stock control and supplier coordination
Strong understanding of NZ hospitality compliance requirements
Current LCQ and Manager’s Certificate required (or eligible to obtain)

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager to support daily operations of our busy restaurant in Tauranga CBD. This is a leadership position responsible for supervising staff, ensuring service standards and supporting operational management.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate front of house staff
Assist with staff recruitment, training and performance managementPrepare and manage staff rosters
Support wage cost control and daily operational reporting
Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety and licensing regulations
Act as Duty Manager when required
Handle customer service issues and maintain high service standards
Assist with stock control and supplier coordination
Support business growth as the team expands
Skills & Experience Required: Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a hospitality supervisory role
Proven team leadership experienceStrong understanding of NZ hospitality compliance requirements
Current LCQ and Manager’s Certificate required (or eligible to obtain)
Ability to work weekends and public holidays
