We’re on the hunt for a talented Duty / Assistant Manager who is passionate about plant-based food, exceptional service, and leading with calm confidence, has barista experience.
Tucked away on Summer Street in the heart of Ponsonby, Little Bird Kitchen is our award-winning plant-based café, delivering healthy, organic, nourishing food alongside an unforgettable guest experience.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership position supporting the Café Manager to ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations while delivering the incredible Little Bird Experience our community knows and loves.
Key Responsibilities- Running shifts with confidence and care
- Leading by example on the floor
- Supporting overall café management
- Stock management and ordering
- Team training and onboarding
- Supporting events and community engagement
Weekend availability is essential.
About You
You’re warm, good-natured, and have a great sense of humour. You’re approachable, grounded, and naturally step into leadership. You love supporting others, coaching your team, and staying calm under pressure.
You’ll Bring:
Previous experience in a similar leadership role
Strong barista skills and coffee knowledge
Sound decision-making ability
Excellent time management and organisational skills
The ability to remain calm and in control during busy service periods
A positive outlook and strong work ethic
A genuine team-first attitude
A real connection to and respect for our ethos around food, health, and wellbeing
