Pharmacy Technician - Golden Bay Pharmacy

An opportunity has opened up for a qualified Pharmacy Technician to join us at Golden Bay Pharmacy. Based in Takaka, the gateway to the Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Parks, an outdoor paradise. Ideally we are looking for a qualified Technician but we are also open to welcoming someone new to pharmacy in which case you would earn as you learn to become qualified.

This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday. We are closed public holidays and most weekends (except for some Saturday’s in Summer), PLUS we don't open any late nights.

THE ROLE

As a technician, you will contribute to the smooth running of the pharmacy dispensary. The role itself is varied and includes; preparing medicines to be dispensed, stock ordering and control, providing care and advice to patients and customers, and generally ensuring an efficient work-flow in the dispensary.

As a dispensary technician you will be doing fulfilling and rewarding work in a role that requires skill, personal integrity and empathy.

Medication Preparation and Dispensing:
  • Assist the pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure all medications are properly labelled and packaged.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and medication histories.
Customer Service:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patients and customers.
  • Answer customer inquiries about medications and over-the-counter products.
  • Offer advice on general health and well-being under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Inventory Management:
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, including ordering and stocking medications and supplies.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure accuracy and prevent shortages.
  • Handle expired or damaged stock in accordance with regulations.
Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, including the dispensary and storage areas.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and documentation as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and pharmacy policies.
