The work is hands on and involves various operational teams, project managers, developers & BA’s. It also provides continuous learning experiences that encourage growth and development. The role is situated within our Network Operations Centre, where you will get to work alongside a dedicated network services group.We provide a challenging and sophisticated environment using a range of technologies to achieve our goals with a strong focus on Cisco solutions including, firewalls, routing & switching, UCS, wireless, voice and security. Most excitingly of all, you will have the opportunity to be exposed to the latest in technology and to continue learning as we introduce new services and products for our clients.
Our offices are based in Auckland. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/ life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!
Note that it is a full-time position with rostered on-call and only open to current NZ Citizens and Residents.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Network Engineer in Auckland, you will be focused on:
- Working with technologies including Routing, Switching, Firewalls, VPN & Remote access, VoIP, WLAN, and Load Balancers
- Support customer network environments
- Establish and nurture relationships with appropriate staff both internally and externally
- Provide guidance and technical leadership to more junior staff
- Perform reporting duties
- Liaise with Professional services and Sales Teams
What You’ll Bring
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be an enthusiastic team player who understands what needs to be done to turn business requests into solutions. You won’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves and be involved in the sorting of the problem not just the design.We need people who can talk about business – be it small, medium of large – it’s all relevant and can build networks across our greater Datacom team so that you have a wealth of knowledge available for your local customer.
To join our team, you’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer (3-4 years minimum, 5+ desired)
- CCNA and CCNP full certification or equivalent or above
- Firewall certification in the form of Fortinet, Palo Alto and/or Checkpoint
- Understanding of Networking principles and practical application
- Experience and hands-on implementation of engineering and administration of multiprotocols and multilayer switches including LAN protocols, BGP, RIP, NAT, OSPF/EIGRP, TCP/IP and Wireless (Cisco, Aerohive, Fortinet, Aruba, Arista, Juniper)
- Experience with router and switch technology as well as working knowledge in protocol analysis, including the ability to configure, deploy, upgrade, and troubleshoot
- Load Balancing experience e.g. F5, Citrix Netscaler, Global Server Load Balancing
- Firewall/Network Security experience, e.g. Fortinet, Checkpoint, Cisco, Palo Alto, IPS, and VPN
- Experience with cloud solutions (Azure, AWS), DNS configuration management, Firewall analysis and implementation with diagnosis and troubleshooting, VPN support and IP address management (NAT and PAT)
