Paediatric Social Worker (Te Puaruruhau Child Protection Service), Starship Child HealthPermanent, full-time positionBe part of the Paediatric Social Work team at Starship!Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the roleStarship Child Health has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced social worker to work alongside children and their families in the Te Puaruruhau Child Protection Service and become part of the dedicated social work team at Starship Child Health.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe Paediatric Social Work team covers inpatients and outpatients at Starship and also has a key role at Te Puaruruhau, the Auckland Regional Child Protection team, providing services to the wider Auckland region and supporting the national services at Starship Hospital.The Paediatric Social Work team provides psychosocial assessment and intervention to support successful adaptation to hospitalisation and diagnosis.
We also support people during periods of grief, loss, and relationship support; family violence assessment and intervention, crisis intervention and the management of difficult and complex family situations. Services are provided from Monday to Friday and an on-call weekend service is a critical part of overall service delivery.Te Puaruruhau is a multi-disciplinary child protection service that provides treatment, care and support for tamariki and whanau that have experienced harm.
It is also the central point for forensic investigation into suspected child abuse across Aotearoa.
