Are you an experienced Timber Machinist looking for an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing team? Red Stag TimberLab (Red Stag) in Rotorua is seeking a skilled Timber Machinist to join our exceptional team and contribute to our state-of-the-art, precision Engineered Wood Processing plant.
Position OverviewThis role will focus on the new Weinig remanufacturing line, Grecon Finger Jointer(s), Powermat Planer and associated grinding machine shop for producing precision Engineered Wood Products (EWP), while supporting the greater manufacturing functions.
Our new EWP plant specialises in producing Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and Glue Laminated Timber (GLT) structural products, just five minutes out of Rotorua.
Key Responsibilities- Operate the Weinig moulder and Finger Jointer.
- Manage the machining tool room for sharpening planer heads and finger jointing knives.
- Ensure high-quality work with precision and attention to detail.
- Support preventative and predictive maintenance systems.
- Provide self-direction and work autonomously to improve site uptime.
- Support the greater remanufacturing line and EWP processes.
- Experienced and capable hands-on Timber Machinist/Finger Jointing experience tradesperson.
- Proven experience in the sharpening and setup of planers and Finger Jointers (FJ).
- High attention to detail and pride in quality work.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Structured, systematic, and well-organised.
- Excellent priority and time management skills.
- Energetic individual with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Initiative and enthusiasm.
- Driven to optimise the line and production KPI’s.
