We have a permanent opportunity available for a talented Senior Policy Analyst to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of impactful policy issues and lead the delivery of high-quality advice for Ministers and senior leaders.

You'll have the chance to join us in developing policy in one or more of these areas:

  • **Community Wellbeing**: Shaping policy that strengthens the community and voluntary sector, including charities, and policy relating to Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
  • **Gambling**: Contributing to modernising gambling regulation, including initiatives that minimise harm across the system.
  • **Racing**: Supporting policy that maximises returns to the racing industry and advances regulatory changes such as the Greyhound Racing Industry Closure Bill.
  • **Digital and identity**: **** Considering identity related policy issues including Citizenship, privacy and use of identity information and digital identity initiatives
  • **National Library and Archives**: Supporting stewardship of Aotearoa's documentary heritage and public archives through legislation guiding the work of the National Library and Archives New Zealand.
  • As a Senior Policy Analyst, you'll lead and manage the analysis of significant or multiple policy issues, supported by principals and managers. Your advice will be informed by a sound understanding of the policy process, effective consultation, and strong quality assurance.

You'll be encouraged to share your experience, knowledge and ideas with less experienced analysts across a range of policy areas. We'll invest in your growth and give you opportunities to stretch your skills in a supportive environment.

**What you bring | Nou te rourou**
  • Experience as a senior policy analyst or 4+ years' experience as a policy analyst, with the necessary experience to step up to a senior role
  • A relevant degree demonstrating strong critical thinking and analytical ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence engaging with diverse stakeholders, from community groups to industry leaders
  • Experience leading and supporting analysts to produce quality work
  • Strong knowledge of legislative processes and the structure of New Zealand's government
  • A problem-solving mindset and commitment to continuous learning
