740 Cows | 54 BR | 370 ha | Otoroa, Northland

Mid North Farms is a high-performing, multi-farm dairy business in Northland, led by a professional leadership team. Our farms operate as an integrated group. Sharing systems, support, and young stock rearing (all calves born are raised within the wider business), while each farm remains stand-alone and fully accountable for its own results.

We’re now seeking an experienced Farm Manager to lead one of our key dairy units. This is a genuine “run it like it’s your own” role, with the support, scale, and resources of a well-structured farming group.

The opportunity

As Farm Manager - you will lead the people, set and execute the seasonal plan, protect and grow the asset, and deliver the physical and financial outcomes. You’ll take full ownership of the farm’s performance, while working alongside other Farm Managers and the wider Mid North Farms team to lift standards and share what works.

Reporting through to the CEO and ultimately to the Trust. You’ll be trusted to make day-to-day and seasonal decisions, backed by clear expectations, strong systems, and practical support across the group.

Set on 370 effective hectares this is a farm that offers a modern 54-bale rotary with ACRs and automatic teat spray, plus Halter integration and automatic drafting for streamlined operation. You’ll lead farm planning and daily delivery, including budgeting, reporting, and team leadership, while driving results against a 295,000 kgMS target, supplying Fonterra on a winter milk contract and peak milking 690 cows.

What you’ll be responsible for
  • Owning the farm’s seasonal plan and delivering production targets through strong pasture, feed, and herd management.
  • Leading and developing a capable team: recruitment input, rostering, training, performance, and building a positive, accountable culture.
  • Managing the farm as a business: budgeting, cost control, KPI tracking, monthly reporting, and clear commentary on performance and opportunities.
  • Ensuring excellent standards in animal health and welfare, reproduction, young stock transitions (within the integrated group model), and overall herd performance.
  • Maintaining a safe, compliant workplace: Health & Safety leadership, environmental obligations, and dairy company requirements.
  • Protecting and enhancing the asset base: infrastructure, plant and machinery care, presentation, and planned maintenance and development.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced dairy leader with proven results — someone who combines practical farming ability with strong business discipline and people leadership. You’ll be confident making decisions, setting standards, and being accountable for outcomes.

You’ll also enjoy working within a broader team environment where collaboration and shared improvement matter.

What’s on offer
  • A rare Farm Manager role with true autonomy and accountability
  • Trust-backed ownership with professional support and clear governance
  • A strong, values-driven team and an integrated multi-farm system
  • Competitive remuneration aligned to experience and performance

If you’re ready to step into a role where you can lead like an owner, deliver as a business manager, and be part of a progressive farming group - This is a genuine opportunity to apply for today.
