Marine Maintenance Technician – Bluebridge / StraitNZ

StraitNZ connects New Zealand across road and sea, operating a fleet of ships, trucks, and depots nationwide. We are looking for a hands-on Marine Maintenance Technician to support our vessels and Wellington workshop.

The role

You will keep our fleet running reliably through maintenance, repairs, fabrication, and fault finding. Work is split between onboard support and workshop tasks, giving you real variety.

Our operation runs 24/7, so night and weekend work is part of the role.

What you’ll do

Mechanical fitting, fabrication, and welding

Fault finding and breakdown response

Prepare and install components and spares

Support major maintenance and layovers

Work safely and as part of a strong team

What you bring

Trade qualification (fitter, mechanic or similar)

Experience in marine, heavy industry, or workshop environments

Strong hands-on skills and practical mindset

Ability to read drawings and follow procedures

Team-focused with a proactive attitude

You must have

NZ residency or valid work visa

Ability to pass medical, drug & alcohol, and MOJ checks

Flexibility to support a 24/7 operation
