Enjoy the benefits of working in a smaller hospital, experience general and acute medicine, with a supportive team of consultants, house officers, medical students and nursing staff.Your roster will allow for you to enjoy all that Rotorua has to offer with longer summers and shorter winters.Please click here for the position descriptionAbout the General Surgery DepartmentThe department has 8 General Surgical consultants covering the entire spectrum of General Surgery.They all gave various areas of interest; these include Colorectal, Breast & Endocrine and Upper GI surgery.The registrar will have an opportunity to rotate through these various units while also gaining experience in general surgery care.The department is a recognised training site for RACS surgical trainees and supports registrar teaching and training.Good support and supervision is provided to our registrars to enhance both their operative and non-operative skills.
The department has a strong reputation for supporting our registrars to get onto training.This is a department, which will support you throughout your surgical journey.About the LocationLakes is a geothermal wonderland and is also home to several scenic lakes, including Lake Taupō, the largest lake in New Zealand.Rotorua and Taupō are the go-to places for hiking, mountain biking, and water sports; you can also dive into traditional experiences and learn more about Māori culture in the region.
