Weekend Cook – Ons Dorp, Henderson, Auckland
16 hours per week | Saturday & Sunday, 6:30am – 3:00pm
Cater Plus is looking for an experienced and passionate Cook to join our team at Ons Dorp, a Dutch style Retirement and Lifestyle Village in Henderson. This is a permanent weekend role, ideal for someone looking for a rewarding position with a short work week and great work life balance.
Ons Dorp caters for both care centre and village residents, and this role plays an important part in delivering wholesome, well presented meals in a warm and respectful environment.
About the role
Working alongside a supportive kitchen team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious meals for residents, ensuring food is delivered to a high standard of quality, safety, and presentation.
Key tasks and responsibilities include:- Preparing, cooking, and serving wholesome meals in a commercial kitchen environment
- Bulk cooking and portion control to meet service requirements
- Monitoring food quality at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness
- Working confidently both independently and as part of a team
- Supporting kitchen operations during service periods
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, safe, and hazard free kitchen environment
About you
We are looking for someone who:- Has bulk cooking experience in a commercial kitchen or as a confident home cook
- Is passionate about good food and delivering a positive dining experience
- Has a flexible, committed, and can do attitude
- Can work calmly and efficiently in a busy kitchen
- Has good time management skills
- Has a practical understanding of New?Zealand food safety regulations
- Is compassionate and respectful when working with elderly residents
