Responsibilities
Prepares and bakes a variety of sweet and savory baked goods, including cakes, pastries, breads, and desserts. They are responsible for tasks such as checking equipment and raw materials, kneading and shaping dough, preparing fillings, monitoring oven temperatures, and decorating finished products.
Core Duties:Preparation and Baking: Pastry Chefs prepare and bake a wide range of baked goods, including bread, cakes, pastries, biscuits, and
desserts.
Ingredient Management: They check the quality of raw materials, weigh ingredients, and prepare pastry fillings.
Baking Techniques:They implement appropriate baking techniques, monitor oven temperatures and product appearance, and coordinate the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning, and cooling of baked goods.
Decoration: They glaze buns and pastries, and decorate cakes with cream and icing.Equipment Handling:
They operate machines used for rolling, molding dough, and cutting biscuits, and maintain cleanliness of baking equipment.
Other Important Tasks:Recipe Development: Pastry Chefs may be involved in creating and testing new recipes.
Food Safety: They adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations.
Teamwork: They work effectively with other kitchen staff.
Stock Management: They may be responsible for ordering ingredients and maintaining stock.
