Position Overview:We are looking for a Motor Mechanic (General) to join our skilled team at Pit Stop Onehunga. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and light commercial vehicles. The successful candidate will have expertise in both diesel and petrol engines and will contribute to the overall operational efficiency of our workshop.
Key Responsibilities:Diagnosing and Repairing Engines: Identify and repair issues in both diesel and petrol engines. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems using advanced diagnostic tools.
Regular Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, brake checks, and fluid top-ups to ensure vehicle reliability.Parts Installation: Replace faulty components including fuel pumps, injectors, turbochargers, exhaust systems, and batteries.
Customer Interaction: Communicate with customers to explain the diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance recommendations. Provide clear estimates of repair costs.
Vehicle Testing: Test vehicles post-repair to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
Stay Current with Industry Trends: Continuously improve your knowledge of automotive technology and industry best practices to stay ahead of the curve.
Key Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience as a Motor Mechanic (General), ideally with 5+ years in a similar role.
Strong understanding of diesel and petrol engine systems, including mechanical, electrical, and fuel systems.
Skilled in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve engine issues.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
Trade qualification in Automotive Engineering (NZQA Level 4 or equivalent).
A valid Class 1 driver’s license and your own hand tools.
