Motor Mechanic (General)

Pay Range: From NZD $24 to $28 per hour (or annual equivalent), based on experience and qualifications.

About the Role:

Manurewa Tyre and Mechanical Services Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic (General) to join our dedicated team. This hands-on role involves servicing and repairing a range of vehicles, as well as tyre-related services including fitting, balancing, rotation, and inspections.

• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment
• Servicing and repairing engines, transmissions, steering and suspension systems, brakes, and other mechanical components
• Performing routine vehicle maintenance according to manufacturer specifications
• Inspecting tyres, fitting new tyres, performing wheel balancing and alignment, repairing punctures, and rotating tyres
• Conducting road tests and making necessary adjustments to ensure vehicle safety and performance
• Maintaining clear and accurate service and repair records
• Ensuring all work complies with WOF and New Zealand road safety regulations
• Communicating effectively with customers regarding repairs, timelines, and costs

• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience as a motor mechanic
• Proven experience with both mechanical servicing and tyre-related work
• Familiarity with modern vehicle systems and diagnostic tools
• A valid and current New Zealand driver’s licence preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dedicated team
