The opportunity

Delaware North New Zealand is seeking a full-time Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our Oma Artisan Bakery & Café team at Auckland Airport. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of a high-volume airport venue, delivering exceptional guest experiences while leading, developing and motivating a diverse team.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll play a key role in driving performance, fostering a positive team culture, maximising revenue opportunities and ensuring operational standards are consistently met.

What we offer
  • Competitive salary: $67,200 to $84,000

What you will do?
  • Act as shift leader, supervising service flow and team activity during trading hours
  • Support smooth opening, trading and closing procedures
  • Deliver and reinforce service standards, product quality and brand presentation
  • Provide hands-on assistance to the team during busy service periods
  • Respond to customer queries and complaints in a professional and timely manner
  • Support onboarding, training and on-the-job coaching of team members
  • Maintain clear communication across front and back-of-house teams
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with food safety, duty management, licensing and workplace health & safety standards
  • Support stock control processes, including ordering, receiving, stocktakes and wastage monitoring
  • Assist with cash handling procedures, POS accuracy and daily operational reporting
  • Escalate incidents, breaches or operational issues in line with company policies
  • Contribute to achieving labour, cost and service performance targets
More about you
  • Licence Controller Qualification Certificate (LCQ), Duty Managers Certificate (DM) – Highly preferred but not mandatory
  • Food Safety Certificate
  • 2-3 years previous experience in a team leader or supervisor role within a café, bar, or restaurant
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service and team coordination
  • Exposure to shift management, team member training, or opening/closing responsibilities
  • Familiarity with POS systems, inventory processes, and basic reporting
  • Flexibility to a work a variety of shifts over a rotating roster (Mon – Sun between 12am to 11:59pm)
