Strengthen governance and risk.DIA has come through a significant period of change, and we are seeking a highly experienced and values-driven leader to work alongside the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to lead the department in charting its long-term direction, identifying the value the department adds and accounting for its performance.
About the RoleAs a trusted partner, you will drive strategy development and provide assurance on performance to the Secretary for Internal Affairs and ELT. The key focus of the position is on the whole Department, helping drive the emerging strategic direction and align with organisational priorities and functional strategies while building strategic thinking capability across the wider department.You will also have oversight of the establishment and maintenance of appropriate risk and assurance frameworks and governance to create visibility of overall performance across the department, that supports the Executive Leadership Team with strategic decision making and direction for the organisationThis role requires a strategic thinker, a collaborative leader, and someone who can navigate complexity with confidence and integrity.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development and implementation of organisational strategy and planning processes.Oversee governance, risk, and assurance frameworks that support transparency and accountability.Provide strategic advice to senior leaders, the Board, and external stakeholders.Lead and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and inclusion.Champion continuous improvement and performance across the organisation.What You'll BringSenior leadership experience in strategy, governance, or risk within the public sector.Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.A collaborative and inclusive leadership style.Strong understanding of public sector values, systems, and responsibilities.Why Join Us?This is a unique opportunity to lead a strategic function that supports good governance, informed decision-making, and long-term organisational success.
