Skilled Chinese Cook Wanted

Pay Rate: $27 – $32 per hour (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are a Chinese food retail shop specialising in freshly prepared hot dishes, braised (luwei) items, cold dishes, and traditional Chinese-style sausage. We are looking for a skilled Cook with solid experience in Chinese cuisine and the ability to manage day-to-day kitchen operations independently.

This role requires practical cooking skills, a strong understanding of Chinese flavour profiles, and experience in handling preparation techniques such as marinating, seasoning, and controlled cooking processes.

• Prepare and cook a range of Chinese dishes including stir-fried meals, braised dishes, cold dishes and and Chinese-style sausages
• Carry out ingredient preparation, including cutting, marinating, seasoning, and sauce preparation
• Apply appropriate cooking techniques such as stir-frying, braising, steaming, and cold dish assembly
• Ensure food quality, presentation, and portion control meet established standards
• Assist in planning daily food preparation and coordinating kitchen workflow
• Monitor ingredient usage and assist with ordering and stock control
• Maintain consistency in taste and quality across all menu items
• Ensure all food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations
• Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
• Work effectively during busy periods while maintaining high standards

• At least one years of relevant work experience in Chinese cuisine
• Good knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, flavour balancing, and food preparation processes
• Ability to work independently and manage kitchen tasks with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail in food quality and presentation
• Good time management and ability to work under pressure
• Reliable, responsible, and a good team player
