Aquatics Operations Manager

Our Aquatics team is growing to nearly 60 staff across Alexandra, Cromwell, Ranfurly, and Roxburgh. We need someone awesome to help lead the charge.
This brand-new role supports our people and strengthens team culture.
What You'll Do: Lead People & Staffing
- Lead rostering and leave management across all sites
- Jump in when supervisors need backup
- Be the support person your team counts on
- Work with the Aquatics Manager on staffing challenges
- Coordinate recruitment and onboard new staff
- Develop training plans and run monthly sessions
- Help lifeguards level up with PLPC renewals and Skills Active certs
- Train staff in pool operations and health & safety
- Assist with operational reporting and procurement
- Coordinate suppliers and contractors
- Support PoolSafe accreditation and facility compliance
- Be visible, approachable, and ready to problem-solve
- Ensure everyone follows health and safety protocols
- Run audits, drills, and compliance checks
- Lead incident debriefs and coordinate responses
- Conduct regular 1-1s with Aquatic Supervisors
Experience:
- 5+ years leading or supporting teams (aquatics or recreation ideal)
- Multi-site environment experience
- Lifeguard Assessor certification and/or Skills Active qualifications (preferred)
- Strong people skills and genuine care for team wellbeing
- Excellent communication
- Experience with rostering and HR systems
- Basic pool plant knowledge
- Current First Aid Certificate and PLPC (or obtain within 4 weeks)
- Natural problem-solver who stays cool under pressure
