Social Worker (0.7– 1.0 FTE)
About the role
You'll be working within a residential reintegration programme as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing social work clinical assessment within the scope of practice, therapeutic support, and risk-informed input into reintegration planning for residents navigating complex transitions back into the community.You will work directly with residents to understand their needs, support behaviour change, and contribute to planning that supports their transition back into the community. The role also includes contributing to group-based programme delivery and supporting residents to engage in these effectively.
You will work closely with the Clinical Lead Manager and Reintegration & Programme Development Specialist to ensure support is consistent, practical, and aligned to each resident's needs.
Key responsibilities
Complete comprehensive psychosocial, trauma-informed, and risk-informed assessments to identify residents' therapeutic and behavioural reintegrative support needs
Provide structured 1:1 therapeutic support focused on emotional regulation, behaviour change, and coping strategies
Contribute clinical input to case planning, risk management, and multidisciplinary discussions
Support residents to engage with whanau and appropriate community services
Contribute to and support the delivery of group-based programmes and activities
Assist residents to engage meaningfully in programme content and reintegration pathways
Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation
About you
Have a recognised qualification in Social Work, hold a current SWRB registration and practicing certificate
Have experience working with people with complex needs, ideally within the justice or social services sector
Be confident in assessment, therapeutic engagement, and risk-aware practice
Understand trauma-informed approaches and behaviour change
Be able to build trust while maintaining clear professional boundaries
Be comfortable working in a dynamic, sometimes unpredictable environment
