Marketing Specialist — Casual
Something to Say is a Poneke/Wellington-based marketing consultancy helping good people with great ideas stand out and say their thing. Our mahi spans strategy, campaigns, and content for clients across the arts, health, energy, retail, financial services, and more.
We’re after a casual Marketing Specialist (Wellington-based preferred) to jump on projects as needed from October 2025 (typically 5-10 hours per week with the ability to flex up/down if required). This role would suit a marketing and comms generalist with strong copywriting skills and a can-do attitude! If you like variety, care about your craft — and can get it done to a high standard — then read on.
What you’ll be getting up to:- Writing and editing clear, compelling copy: blogs, newsletters, media releases, social media posts, and more.
- Supporting campaign planning and rollouts (lite project management where needed).
- Tailoring messaging to different audiences and channels (no cookie cutters).
- Proven copywriting experience — shortform and longform, across multiple channels.
- Hands-on marketing experience (agency, in-house, or freelance).
- Confidence switching between sectors and brand voices.
- Solid self-management and organisation skills, with the ability to deliver on time, every time.
- The ability to flex to meet business requirements, as needed.
- A solutions-first mindset.
This role could be a nice fit if you’re a post-grad marketing student keen to flex your skills, a parent looking for meaningful mahi that fits neatly between school runs, or a marketing freelancer.
What’s on offer:- Competitive hourly rate of $30-40/hour
- Up to 10 hours per week, with flex to ramp up/down
- Varied, creative work across interesting NZ sectors
- Clear briefs and practical feedback
- Work from home with occasional travel in Wellington when required (negotiable)
Please send your CV with a short cover letter explaining why the role sounds like you (plus links to copywriting samples if available) to emily.perry@somethingtosay.co.nz. Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
