Our mahi is used to inform deployment of resources, understand the criminal environment and crime problems, and facilitate evidence-based action and prevention.
BPD Intelligence is recruiting a Tactical Intelligence Analyst to join our high performing team.
This is a District position that may be based at either Tauranga Central police station or BPD headquarters in Rotorua, depending on the preferred applicant.
You will work to support the Police Tactical Response Model (TRM).
No day will be the same in this role.
You will provide intelligence that is timely, accurate, clear, and relevant.
Your work will directly support the Offender Prevention Teams (OPT), Tactical Operations Coordinator (TOC) and Armed Offenders Squad (AOS), as well as other operational groups such as the Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB).
The analysis you provide will assist with the identification, disruption and apprehension of offenders who are a risk to staff safety and the safety of our communities.
This is a high trust environment and one which needs you to be flexible in relation to where and when you may be required to work.
You must be able to cope with the nature of the work we undertake, and the organisational challenges presented in Police Intelligence.
The environment can be fast paced and as such you need to be adaptable, flexible and resilient.
Time will not always be your friend.
To succeed in this role, you need to be comfortable and confident when talking to others and willing to build your understanding of policing and Intelligence.
You will need to work with people from a wide range of internal workgroups and external agencies.
Communication is key, as you will be presenting analysis through written reporting and verbal briefings to a range of audiences.

It would be advantageous but not essential if you had some knowledge of geospatial systems and radio communications.

Able to recognise problems, distil and define the pertinent issues, and determine and propose effective solutions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (accurate and concise).
Collaborate on projects and group analysis.
Contribute to core Intelligence reporting and deliverables of the wider group.
Champion diverse worldviews, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, identifying opportunities to reflect these in Intelligence products.
Able to use technology but equally adapt to non-technical solutions in the field.

Whakaritenga motuhake | Special requirements New Zealand citizenship, or a permanent New Zealand resident.
Have completed the Tactical Intelligence baseline course or able to complete the course at the earliest opportunity.
Able to deploy to another location at short notice.
Hold a full driver licence or be able to complete early in employment Security Clearance Requirements To be eligible for this role, you may be asked to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET National Security Clearance.

The minimum criteria for this level of Clearance is: NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or: A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

Utu ā-tau | Salary This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $87,306 and $98,099 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
