We are on the lookout for a first year Teacher in Training or Caregiver to join our team – someone who naturally builds relationships through aroha, communicates well and with respect, and is passionate about supporting positive learning outcomes for all children.
As a Teacher in Training or Caregiver at BestStart, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young children by providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. You'll be part of a motivated team, reporting to our Centre Manager and working alongside passionate Teachers who are dedicated to quality care and education for all children.
This is a permanent, full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and we're looking for someone who is flexible and committed to working rostered shifts as part of our collaborative team.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Providing exceptional and responsive care and education to our tamariki
- Supporting learning through play and meaningful interactions and learning opportunities
- Assisting across both classrooms and covering staff breaks
- Contributing to all centre routines
- Documenting children's learning and assisting with planning and assessment
- Being eager to support with centre events
- Participating in team meetings and embracing our centre philosophy
What We're Looking For:
- Aroha for children, especially being responsive to infants and toddlers
- Experience working with children under five
- Ability to work as a team with strong communication skills and a positive attitude
- High level of initiative. Ability to be reflective and willing to take on feedback
- Willingness to incorporate Te Reo and tikanga Maori into daily practice
- ECE qualification is not required for this role however can be working towards qualification
