Job Title: Leading Hand Truck Mechanic
Location: Papakura, Auckland
We're after a Leading Hand Truck Mechanic who’s got the skills, experience, and leadership to take charge of a team and get the job done right. This role is about delivering top-quality work on heavy vehicles and machinery, running the workshop efficiently, and keeping everything in peak condition.If you’ve got the hands-on expertise and the drive to lead, we want you on the team.
Key Responsibilities:- Service, repair, and maintain company trucks and vehicles, ensuring they are always in a state of readiness.
- Lead and support a team of mechanics, providing guidance and training where needed.
- Allocate and prioritise work within the team to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on a variety of vehicle systems, including engines, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Ensure all vehicles and workshop tools are kept in safe, working order and comply with industry regulations.
- Complete and maintain accurate records for servicing, repairs, and equipment usage.
- Manage vehicle safety checklists, ensuring regular inspections are completed and documented.
- Assist with stock management for parts and consumables.
- Qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience working as a mechanic on trucks and heavy vehicles.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is desirable.
- Strong diagnostic skills and a high standard of workmanship.
- Extensive knowledge of vehicle systems and mechanical repair.
- Ability to mentor and train junior team members.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Clean and valid driver’s license (Class 1 or higher).
