Class 2 Driver / Yardperson – Ashburton

We’re looking for a motivated Class 2 Driver / Yardperson to join a well-established metal recycling business based in Ashburton. This is a hands-on, varied role for someone who enjoys a mix of driving and practical yard work and is keen to grow into a long-term opportunity.
This is a 50/50 role to start (driving and yard work), with the opportunity to move into more driving over time for the right person.

About the role
This role combines Class 2 driving with yard-based work. Your day-to-day will include:
- Driving a Class 2 truck around Ashburton and surrounding areas
- Picking up scrap and raw metal products from customers
- Assisting in the yard with sorting and recycling materials
- Working toward a role that becomes more driving-focused over time
Hours:
- Monday to Friday
- Every 2–3 Saturdays (rostered)
- Saturday work is yard-based
- Full Class 2 licence
- Confident driving manual trucks (older fleet due to the nature of the work)
- Happy to get hands dirty and help out in the yard
- Physically fit and reliable
- Friendly, approachable, and a good team player
- Drug-free lifestyle – pre-employment and random drug testing applies

- People who don’t like yard work
- Anyone not comfortable with physical, hands-on work
