Experienced Livestock Driver

Valley Cattle is seeking an experienced Class 5 livestock driver to join our team based in Ashburton. This role involves 90% cattle work, so strong stock-handling experience is essential. You will be operating a modern, well-maintained unit and working within a supportive, professional team.

• Transport cattle (90%) and occasional other stock safely and professionally
• Load and unload livestock using low-stress handling techniques
• Complete all required paperwork (logbooks, consignment notes) accurately
• Operate and maintain a compliant, well-maintained truck and crate
• Communicate effectively with farmers, yards, dispatch, and other team members
• Ensure all work meets animal welfare and transport regulations

• Class 5 licence – REQUIRED
• Proven livestock transport experience, especially with cattle
• Strong, calm stock-handling skills
• Good mechanical awareness and care for equipment
• Ability to work independently and also within a team
• Willing to stay away from home at least once a week
• Accurate consignment note and record-keeping skills
• Reliable, safety-focused, and professional at all times
