You will establish and nurture long-term, authentic relationships with iwi-Māori partnership boards, health providers, local government, and community stakeholders to ensure services meet local needs. A key part of your role is to act as a connector between national, regional, and district teams, helping to solve issues and enable integration across providers.
You will lead community service planning and provider engagement, ensuring the voices of Māori, Pacific, tāngata whaikaha and other priority populations are at the heart of health service design. Central to the role is a strong focus on radically improving Māori health outcomes and eliminating inequities.About the Team This role sits within the Planning, Funding and Outcomes Directorate - Te Waipounamu and reports to the Group Manager, Integration.
You will work closely with regional leadership, commissioning teams, and integration programmes across hospital, specialist, primary, and community care services.About youYou are an experienced commissioning and community development leader with the ability to navigate complex systems and build trust with diverse stakeholders.

You will bring extensive senior-level experience in system and service design, health service funding, procurement, and place-based planning. With strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills, you are confident engaging with iwi, Pacific peoples, providers, and community representatives to drive equity-focused change.You will bring:A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification.10+ years' senior-level experience in commissioning, community development, or system transformation.Proven experience in health service funding, procurement, and provider oversight.Strong knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and demonstrated ability to apply its principles in practice.Expertise in relationship management and collaborative system leadership.The ability to compellingly communicate complex information to a range of audiences, including senior leaders and Ministers.Desirable experience includes collective impact approaches, navigating regulated environments, and influencing across high-performance networks.Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
