About us
The Chocolate Fish Cafe is based on the Miramar Peninsula in Shelly Bay. We have been operating since 1997 and are a unique cafe in a great location over looking Wellington harbour.With the exciting completion of our brand new kitchen and dining area nearing, we are seeking Experienced, Passionate, Hospitality Driven individuals to join our Team.
We are looking forward to the future and would like to recruit 2 dynamic managers and an exceptional functions manager to join our management team in rebuilding and developing our cafe.
The Chocolate Fish Cafe is open 7 days a week 364 days a year (only closed Christmas Day). The positions are a varied 5 day week over a 7 day roster and does require weekend work and summer availability.Currently the cafe is only a day time operation, however we are looking to develop the business with evening dining and private functions with motivated managers.
We are a family run cafe with a strong focus on longevity, development and integrity within our management team and we are wanting to increase this tight knit team.
The role includes, but is not limited to:
- Responsible for day to day staff management including employee training and recruitment.
- Overseeing daily operations of cafe.
- Barista, counter, FOH, BOH, Matrie D, all the usual cafe jobs.
- We do require our managers to help out with light baking duties to cover days off etc.
- We are looking for someone who is able to put a strong focus into up-skilling and training our employees as this is very important to our ethos.
- Social Media and marketing management.
- Administration and office management.
- Future Progression and Development ideas for the cafe.
- Have a strong background in Hospitality with at least 3 years experience in the industry.
- Have a LCQ and current Managers Certificate.
- Have proven familiarity with the operations of an extremely busy grill kitchen.
- Strong Barista skills.
- Be able to train, guide and encourage our newer employees in their roles in all FOH, Barista and Kitchen areas.
- An ability to lead and work with others under pressure.
- Be proficient and have a high level of computer literacy - social media profile management along with Xero Accounting or similar software. This is an area we require attention in, so someone with an interest in website design and system development would be advantageous.
- Knowledge and understanding of all WCC alcohol, food and hygiene regulations inline with our operating licences.
- Our current managers are allrounders and we are looking for new team players to complement our existing skill sets and really develop the cafe and team into something really special.
Own transport is helpful as we are not on a public transport route.
Remuneration will be an hourly rate based on a 45hr work week and will be discussed with successful applicants.
